Board Transparency

The school board runs the business of education for Wake County: making policy decisions, budgetary decisions, and equipping educators in order to provide top quality, unbiased, education to the children of Wake County. The board must be transparent in its decision-making process and communicate with its constituents.  

• The board is not accessible to those who have elected them to public office. They do not respond to public inquiries (email or otherwise) on issues concerning parents and their children. 
• The board uses its opening comments to self-promote. Furthermore, the board never responds to public comment – not at a following meeting or via email. The board should use this time to respond. 
• The board appointed Craston Artis II to the district 4 position in January.  He did not reside in district 4.  It also came out that he had been informed about the position previously. The board never addresses this abuse of their office or was forthcoming in this egregious error.  
• The board limited attendance, even when it was shown that approved social distancing would allow for more than twice what was being allowed in.  The board even reduced attendance to only ten people, forcing parents to wait outside for their turn to provide public comment. Valid reasoning was not provided by the board.
