Parents are concerned about what their kids are and are not being taught. Parents want to know what is going on in the classroom.
At the October 18, 2022 WCPSS school board meeting I addressed the board...again. After 1 year and more than a dozen times, the board typically does not respond. And if they mention anything they are condescending and dismissive to parents yet still don not address the issues.
On October 4th, I spoke at the WCPSS Board Meeting. The board continues to make poor decisions about the budget and curriculum resulting in our children not receiving the quality education they deserve. The board voted to extend the contract of Superintendent Moore, even though student proficiency has only declined since she has been directing the academics of WCPSS.
At the Sept 20th WCPSS board meeting. I compared the current budget proposal to the one from 10 years ago. I asked the board why has the budget increased from $1.2 Billion (2012-13) to $2.1 Billion (2022-23). In that time there has been a 6% increase in students, 14.5% increase in teachers, yet 46% increase in the number of high level administration, directors, chiefs and all levels of superintendents.
At the Sept 6th WCPSS Board meeting I addressed the board regarding our rights and their failure to protect our kids. At previous meetings Martin suggested to restrict who was "allowed" to speak at meetings, completely ignoring our rights set forth in the US Constitution. The current board and those they endorse do not have the best in mind regarding providing our kids a quality education.
At the August 2 WCPSS board meeting, I addressed the board. There is much to look forward this school year, including a new school board.
The year in review regarding the "accomplishments" of the WCPSS Board.
The proposed budget is not specific regarding curriculum, contracts and textbooks. And don't forget, $5million is budgeted to textbooks, yet WCPSS has been photographed throwing out crates of new books.
